My name is Stephanie Pearson and I am majoring in elementary education and early childhood education. I am currently enrolled in my junior year and will be graduating in December of 2009.
Technology has become essential in today's society and thus become essential in the school systems. It is my belief that technology will only advance as the years progress, and we must educate our students on how to navigate and function in today's technological advanced age. I believe that computers in the classroom is not only preferred but essential. Children need to be adapted to computers at a young age. When they reach the upper grade levels they are already expected to know the use and functions of a computer. For students to fully understand the computer they need to become familiar with it over a long period of time.
The class I am currently enrolled in is EDT 300 (Technology of Education). I expect that this class will teach me how to use the computer to perform my tasks required by my job such as lesson plans and unit plans. I also believe that it will teach me how to utilize the computer for grading, memos, and notes to parents. However, ultimately I believe that this class will overall enhance my knowledge of the computer and how to navigate through the different programs offered.
